KO & Django Bates (UK)
February 9th 2017 – Spor 5, Stavanger, Norway
Vestnorsk jazzsenter has invited Django Bates to be «Artist in Residence» on Norway’s southwest coast. During the first two weeks of February, Bates will be working with professional ensembles and students; together with nine musicians from Kitchen Orchestra, he will present a concert in Stavanger based on material from his distinctive, extensive band project Elastic Resilience.

Songs from the album «You Live and Learn…(Apparently)» will be presented at Spor 5, in addition to other material, such as a new arrangement of Dylan’s «The Times They Are a-Changin’» and the Earth, Wind and Fire-inspired «Fascinate Me.»
The music takes full advantage of the five-piece horn section, the tight rhythm section, and Signe Irene Time on vocals. T-his will be an exciting meeting between one of the UK’s leading musicians and composers and Stavanger’s own Kitchen Orchestra!
