KO & Maria Faust

Over the years, Kitchen Orchestra has joined a large network of musicians, improvisers and composers from all over the world. Among these is Estonian artist, Maria Faust.

Faust got on Kitchen’s radar when the album Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe (Barefoot Records 2013) found its way to Kitchen drummer Dag Magnus Narvesen's speakers. The impression was not to get away from and since then the Kitchen Orchestra has worked to be able to invite Faust to the table. Since then, Faust has won several awards and nominations for her work as both a composer and a musician.
Faust represents something unique in an European context, despite her relatively young age as a composer, and naturally joins the ranks of strong musical voices that Kitchen Orchestra has collaborated with. A natural and exciting choice in the tenth anniversary of the Kitchen Orchestra. A contribution to the window to the world for the Stavanger audience. And what is more natural than to present such a project at this year's (2015) Maijazz festival?
